Languedoc-Roussillon
At Amande, the French food and drink culture is the main theme and the basis of everything, so it goes without saying that presenting it in more depth is something we gladly want to offer our customers. In the coming year, we will be introducing more food from the different wine regions of France, as well as, of course, noble drinks, so welcome to the journey with us!
First up is the Languedoc-Roussillon region in southern France, on the Mediterranean coast. The region produces diverse and abundant wine; it is quantitatively the largest of France’s wine-producing regions, as about a quarter of the country’s vines are located in this region. Wines typical of the region are, for example, the sparkling wines of the Limoux region and the sweet fortified dessert wines of Banuyls. In September, our wine list offers wines from the region’s classic producer, Gérard Bertrand, as well as wines from Foncalieu, an association of local wine producers.
Characteristic features of the food culture are the abundant use of herbs, garlic and olive oil, as well as the utilization of seafood. Typical dishes include, for example, cod brandade (potatoes, cod, olive oil and spices) and rousquilles biscuits (sugar-coated crispy biscuits) in the dessert section.
During September, Amande’s menu offers both octopus and oysters for starters, main course e.g. cod brandade and apricot tartlet for dessert. Maybe our kitchen will also be inspired to make authentic rousquilles cookies! So welcome to taste the delicacies of Languedoc-Roussillon in Amande!
